Email Marketing and Social Marketing: Constant Contact acquires NutshellMail

Constant Contactone of the leaders in email marketing for small businesses in the United States, has announced the acquisition of NutshellMail.

NutshellMail is a site that offers a service to aggregate the various notifications sent by social networks. NutshellMail offers this service for Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, LinkedIn and Ning. The site also offers tools to update brands' Facebook or Ning pages automatically.

With this acquisition, Constant Contact will be able to propose to its customers to simply integrate a social dimension to their marketing strategy.

As we already saw last month with the acquisition of CoTweet by ExactTarget, the e-mail marketing industry is trying to invest in social marketing. This in order to be able to sell their Social Marketing services to their existing customers. We can't say it enough, emailing is not in competition with social networks, the two sectors are complementary.
