"Badsender" of the week: big means ... but no strategy ...

We can be one of the biggest distribution network in France ... and not take the time to design these emails correctly

This is clearly the case with Conforama missing out of a large number of good emailing practices. However, it is likely that with some low-cost optimizationss, the results of this newsletter could be radically improved.

Quick email analysis:

  •  The subject (see below): Several information are presented, Christmas, December 18, discover ... but what we will discover by opening the email, there is no clear indication of what will be in the email, no indication of benefits.
  • Technical qualities The email has clearly not been tested in the various webmails, and here the two most classic technical problems in Gmail (lines between different images and failure to support the content of the tag) make their appearance. The result is a totally degraded brand image.
  • Ergonomics All the useful part of the email is in images (so the content is invisible when they are not displayed). The calls-to-action are in buttons, which is fine, but their color is the same as the dominant color of the creative, which does not make them stand out.
  • Content of the email The tone is absolutely not personal towards the subscriber. We push promotions and products, without talking about the life of the brand (which is however done on Facebook for example). There is no mention of the advantages of ordering from Conforama, nor is there any link with Conforama's physical activity (store closest to the subscriber, opening hours, etc.).

There is a lot more to say about this emailing, but the points exposed above are basics that every email marketer should respect and enrich week after week.
