For the sixth year, Dolist has released the results of its email marketing trends survey. The survey was conducted among more than 300 email marketing pros between January 12 and March 15, 2015.

Here are some interesting numbers, in bulk:

  • The number of respondents reporting that addresses used for email marketing are sourced from file purchases is down 10% year-over-year.
  • It seems that the collection at the point of sale is strongly increasing since this method of acquisition is in growth of 31% over 1 year.
  • Concerning the typology of the routed campaigns, we will note an explosion of the relaunchings on abandonment of basket (+44% in 1 year) and emails of type alert/notification (+53% on two years). On the other hand, if the promotional emails are decreasing (-26% over two years) we will note an increase of the emails ... partners (+33% in 1 year).
  • Only 23% of respondents say they personalize their email content based on their contacts' behavior ... and that's a drop of 28% from last year's survey!
  • 52% of respondents say they optimize their emails for mobile viewing (+167% in three years) ... fewer and fewer say they don't!
  • On email-to-store ... 63% of respondents say it's not planned ... there's still work to do.
  • The opening rate is the most followed indicator of all (86% follow it) ... the generated turnover is unfortunately only 36% (16% increase over 1 year)
